About Camp Trailblazers
Camp is a right of passage, right? And it’s no different for the kids who attend Camp Trailblazers. It provides a welcome escape for children between the ages of 8 to 18 who are living with a facial difference. It is somewhere they can spend time together, throwing themselves into a whole range of outdoor activities and challenging their own physical boundaries. Camp Trailblazers is the perfect environment for simply sharing your thoughts, feelings and ideas.
Each year, we meet new campers and welcome back old friends, growing our network of friends who stay connected and who go on to form a valuable support network for each other. That way, there’s always someone they can turn to who understands exactly what they are going through. Join us for the experience of a lifetime!
In a classic camp environment, we provide a special place for campers to make friends, share ideas and create new experiences, safe in the knowledge they can express their feelings while knowing their individuality will also be respected. Our goal is that the experience encourages them to have a positive impact on others, and that they witness first hand the valuable contribution they make in their own relationships.
We also offer Family Camp Trailblazers in Newfoundland which is for children of all ages, siblings, parents or adults with a facial difference. It is a similar program to our regular Camp Trailblazers but it provides programming for families together as well as separately, and of course regular camp activities like campfires, swimming, canoeing etc. depending on the location. It is a great opportunity for families to grow together and also connect with other families.

Fees and Registration**NEW FOR 2017, PLEASE READ**
This year, we are introducing a new payment structure as well as a formal subsidy request process to ensure that financial assistance is given to those who demonstrate the most need. AboutFace has subsidized a portion of the cost of each camper since Camp Trailblazers started in 2003. We have kept the costs of camp relatively the same over the years despite the fact that the cost to AboutFace grew considerably. Today, with our camp growing so quickly, we no longer have the funds to subsidize it as heavily. This year, the true cost to AboutFace per camper, is $1300 for ON and NS, and $750 for SK and MB.
We have always wanted Camp Trailblazers to be accessible for everyone, which is why we use a tiered payment system for our enrollment fees. When choosing payment, please select the tier that you feel you can afford. To help us offset the cost of up-front fees we need to pay for camp, and to assist in receiving commitment from our campers, we are introducing non-refundable registration fees for all of our camps. You can take advantage of our “Early Bird” registration fee of $50 as long as you register your child for camp before the early bird deadline. After the deadline ends, the registration fee will increase by an additional $50. You can choose to pay the registration fee and the full enrollment fee together, or you can pay the registration fee now, and the enrollment fee later, as long as you pay it before the enrollment fee deadline (2 weeks prior to the camp start date).
Fees for 2017
Ontario and Nova Scotia:
$50 registration fee ($100 after the early bird deadline)
Tier 1 – $250
Tier 2 – $500
Tier 3 – $750
Manitoba and Saskatchewan:
$50 registration fee ($100 after the early bird deadline)
Tier 1 – $125
Tier 2 – $250
Tier 3 – $500
If you are unable to pay the above amounts, AboutFace offers further subsidy. This year, to better streamline our registration process and to make sure our limited subsidies are going to those who need them most, we are introducing a formal Subsidy Request Form. If you require subsidy, please fill out the form and print/scan and email it to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 416-597-8494. If you wish to discuss further you can also call Amanda at 1-800-665-3223 ext 22.
