In this exceptional year, we are pleased to announce the AboutFace Anna Pileggi Post-Secondary Scholarship has been awarded to three Canadian students. The scholarships are awarded annually to students living with a facial difference.

The 2020 recipients are:

Chelsea VandenBoogaard from Alberta: In the fall, Chelsea will enter her fourth year of a commerce degree at the University of Alberta, majoring in Human Resources. She is an active volunteer in her community, as well as a strong advocate for people experiencing marginalization. Chelsea is in the top photo, with AboutFace Board Vice-Chair, Alim Somji.

Kathleen Linehan from Nova Scotia: Kathleen is a dedicated volunteer in her community and was president in grade 12 of her school’s Leo Club. She graduated high school with a rigorous International Baccalaureate diploma. Over the past year, Kathleen has been working at two jobs in order to attend McGill University in the fall, where she will major in biology. Kathleen is in the middle picture, with AboutFace Board Director, Dr. Michael Bezuhly.

Nadya Kennan from Saskatchewan: In September, Nadya will enter her fourth year of a Bachelor of Science degree at Minot State University in Minot, North Dakota. She is currently in the Communication Disorders Program and once finished Nadya plans on pursuing a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Her medical journey has inspired Nadya to give back – she has been active in competitive athletics, a leader in student government, and a volunteer with numerous charities and associations.
